Zefal Pro Wet Lube bike chain oil, 120 ml

Zefal Pro Wet Lube is a chain oil for cyclists who ride in rain, mud and wet winter weather. The 120 ml bottle contains a water-resistant formula based on synthetic esters with anti-corrosion additives, designed to stay on the chain when the roads are wet. A drip-control cap lets you place one drop at a time on the chain. It fits road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes and commuter bikes alike.

Who it suits

Wet lube is the right choice if you ride through autumn and winter, commute in all weather or regularly ride muddy trails. In those conditions a thin dry lube washes off quickly and the chain starts to squeak and rust. If you mainly ride in dry, dusty summer conditions, a dry lube will stay cleaner. How to apply it

1. Clean the chain first: wipe it with a rag while you pedal backwards, or use a degreaser if it is very dirty, then let it dry.
2. Shift to a middle gear, hold the bottle above the lower chain run and put one drop on each roller while slowly pedalling backwards.
3. Spin the cranks for 20 to 30 seconds so the oil can work into the links.
4. Wait a few minutes, then wipe the outside of the chain with a clean rag. The lube needs to be inside the rollers, not on the outer plates, where it only collects dirt.

What to look for in a chain lube

Match the lube to your conditions: wet lubes for rain and mud, dry lubes or waxes for dry weather. A precise applicator matters too, because it saves lube and keeps it away from brakes and tyres. Whatever you use, a clean chain lasts longer than a chain that is simply oiled over and over.

Care, storage and safety

Close the cap after use and store the bottle upright, away from heat and out of reach of children. Keep lube away from disc rotors, brake pads and rim braking surfaces. Follow the safety information on the label and dispose of dirty rags and empty bottles responsibly.
