- Lightweight Lycra made from recycled polyester, according to ARCh MAX
The ARCh MAX Belt Pro Zip is a light running belt made of stretchy Lycra that sits close to your body. This one is pink and comes in size L-XL, which fits a body circumference of about 91 to 105 cm. It has five pockets, including a zipped front pocket for a large phone, and two elastic loops with silicone that hold trail running poles in place. It suits runners who want their phone, keys and a gel on them without a bouncing bag or full pockets.
Who it suits
A belt like this is handy from your very first runs: you carry your phone for music, tracking or emergencies and keep your hands free. If you are just getting started, our guide on how to start running covers what else you need. On trails, the pole loops let you stow your poles on flatter sections. Check the size carefully: this page is for L-XL only.
How to wear and pack it
Wear the belt around your waist or the top of your hips, wherever it feels stable. Put the heaviest item, usually the phone, in the zipped front pocket or turn the belt so it sits at your lower back. Spread smaller items such as keys, cards and gels across the other pockets so the weight stays balanced.
Before your first long run, wear it for a short, easy session and adjust where it sits. If it rides up, move it a little lower. Once it feels right, it is a good companion for a structured plan like our 5K training plan for beginners.
How it compares
A close-fitting stretchy belt usually sits flatter and moves less than a classic bum bag with a buckle. A running vest carries more, including bottles, and suits long trail runs. An armband holds only a phone. If you mainly need phone and keys on short to medium runs, a belt is usually the most comfortable option.
Care
Empty all pockets and close the zip before washing, and follow the instructions on the care label. Let the belt air-dry rather than putting it on a radiator, so the elastic keeps its stretch.

FAQ
Which size do I need?
Measure around your body where you want to wear the belt, usually around the waist or upper hips. The ARCh MAX size chart lists L-XL for about 91 to 105 cm; below that the belt will be too loose, above it too tight.
Will my phone fit?
The front pocket has a zip and is designed by ARCh MAX for large mobile phones. If your phone is in a bulky case, you may need to take it out.
Can I carry water in this belt?
The manufacturer does not list a bottle holder for this model. For longer runs where you need to drink, a belt with a bottle holder or a running vest is the better choice.
